(Had posted previous pictures with only one side done, center caps missing etc.) Attached is a shot with the 245/45 18's on the front and the 245/45 19's on the rear and I'm happy to report to those that were wondering... the traction control still engages with the bigger rims, and so far no rubbing (although I haven't hit any speed bumps with a full load of passengers.)
Next time I think I'll try 255/45's on the rear. Also considering the sport grille and removing the lower grill and leaving it open (but time will tell.)
Nice to see so many great mods on the forum. Keep 'em coming... |

Originally Posted by jonnyd hahaha...yea it is!!! Looks good though man!!! WHat is your reasoning for going with that setup?? | Reason being that I've always thought that with the high trunk line the rear wheels look small. I've always liked the "v" size on the front so I thought l'd fill the back wheel-wells without looking too "comic-like". I think they're a nice fit. Having said that if it was just a matter of springs I probably would have lowered it with Eibac's by now. However I have the load leveling sport shocks which would need to be replaced. Therefore one thing at a time.
Re the rake, the angle of that picture probably makes it look a little more extreme than it actually is.
Re the crappy pictures (tough crowd), I assume you mean the angle. Attached are a couple more. If these don't cut it, let me know what it is you're looking for and I'll try to accomodate... |

I really figured that a staggered wheel size would have looked funky on these cars, but it really does work. That is also a really clean wheel choice, too. What wheels are those? Are the rear tires the same overall diameter as the stockers? The only thing negative I can come up with is that the tires just look too tall. Maybe stepping down to 40-series on both ends would look better. Good job, though. |

The CTS is known for dwarfing rims, especially the rear ones. I think the idea of larger rims at the back, makes sense.
If I had any say in it, the factory minimum size would be 18".
16" look small
17" look like they should be stock (plain and boring)
18" rims look nice
19" rims look perfect for the gen 1 CTS, although probably too bumpy with FE3 shocks
20" is borderline too big
23" belongs on a DTS |
