navigation bypass? "unlock navi and use while driving"

There has got to be a bypass module that we could use to be able to unlock our navi unit while driving, I have seen it for other models, We need to find a solution.
I have been researching this ever since the dealer replaced my navigation unit under warranty and for the first week my navigation unit was totally unlocked, all functions worked,I could input addresses and points of intrest, basically I could use every function on the unit speeding down the freeway or cruising the streets.
1 week later It just fixed itself, and turned back into a babysitter. what do you think happened? this gives me hope that something is possible.
There has to be a wire we could cut or disconnect to trick the brain of the car to think we are stopped. Isn't it more dangerous to stop somewhere
"your lost" to input an address than driving and putting it in?
It's a crazy crazy world.

There has got to be a way and I will find it.

I'm on a mission from God

Let me know what you find. I agree it is a pain to have to stop to put in an address.

No, it is ten times more dangerous putting in an address while driving then stopping while you are "lost".

But I agree, I would like to have the DVD player unlocked so i can chapter seek etc. while driving. (instead of rigging it before starting)

How do you rig it before starting? I tried something a while ago that i got off the net and it didn't work. Does work on all navi's or just certain year ones?

I took this from cadillacfaqs.com

Here are the steps to be driving, riding, and watching (Be safe, if you are diving, do not watch screen!!)

Step 1 Put in DVD.
Step 2 Play DVD (Do not leave it at the front menu, if you do not start the DVD you will not be able to start it after you begin to drive.)
Step 3 While playing - Hit the second from the bottom buttons on the right hand side of the DVD screen and then press the forward Seek Button. (You will see a little flicker)
NOTE: If you see a differnt screen with the words "cold reboot" on it, press the same button combination AGAIN and it should go back to the DVD...

Step 4 Now disable the parking break and make sure that the DVD stays on.
Step 5 Enjoy

Mine did that to for a few days...even the 'suggestions' were absent...was kinda nice not having to click ok everytime I started my car in the garage and having to bypass the headlight suggestion crap.....so if you find something....let us know.
