    @txbest what is the vacuum reservoir and what is it for? I started looking around noticed that it was cracked (i looked up the image one gm parts direct). Its number 7 on the image. Also, the resonator (the plastic part right above number 6 and to the left of number 7 on the image) was damp inside at the bottom. I cleaned it up but am wondering why it was damp.

    it was pretty bad. especially around the pin that opens/closes the throttle. I took "after" pics. I forgot to take some before cleaning it.

    COKE_O...i am also investigating that vacuum reservoir for something else. is yours leaking anything out of it? and your resonator might have been damp, because the reservoir is cracked, because i know there are a lot of air lines connecting all that stuff together...and that humidity down there is something else

    It didn't look like anything was leaking out of it. It was dry but it had a crack on the bottom of it.

    txbest, my car is at it again. It had been working fine since Saturday until yesterday evening. It randomly popped up with that "engine power reduced" message. This morning, it must have done it like four or five times on a 20+ mile commute. Any other suggestions?

    Yes they are. I don't understand why it would work for a few days and then go back to randomly turning off.

    Which of the two would be the one most likely to go out? Is there any easy (not too expensive) way of finding out if it is bad? It very well could be the ECM or TCM.

    well the ECM is known to go bad in all years of the CTS according to a few Caddy mechanic's i have spoken with. but some have seen the TCM go bad as well. as for your situation, i am not sure which one it could be, but my money would probably be on the ECM...and a cheap easy way to find out, dont know how cheap, but taking it to a caddy mech would be my best guess. if you call that guy i gave you the number too, i think he might be the cheapest

    Ok. I'll just call him up as soon as I catch a break. My tuition is due Tuesday so I'm scrambling to get that together. Thanks
