Question Sirius radio add on problems...I know we've discussed this before

Remove this ad
I got direct TV installed at the house, while i was signing up for that they offered Sirius kit for free ($2.95 shipping) and it arrived yesterday. I installed it and i've got to figure out a way to hide it and make it look "stock".

1. I've got an '03 with cass. so no from the factory sat. radio. The Sirius moduel seems like i would fit in the ashtray if i could get it powered "in line" and not from the lighter. The lighter gimmick looks awful!

2. The thing works wireless using a "dead" station but im getting alot of interference. There's got to be a better way. I tryed to change to another "dead" station but no dice. 88.1 is the station dude on the phone said go with, when i change to another static station i dont get the sat. radio signal at all, only on 88.1... hmm...

3. Anyone dealt with this before? I've seen some trick a$$ setups with sat. radio's/ipod's in the ashtrey before on this site. If your reading this Long thread and you've put something aftermaket in your ashtrey post pics and tell me how you did it.

Thanks for putting up with this long thread and for the advice!

Also, insurance from the "REDNECK" cut me a check and im having the Caddy repaired and painted at a dealership near Greensboro, NC. Do you guys think the dealer is the way to go or find a good independent paint shop?

Well you can get the adapter that plugs into your factory antenna for a clearer sound. The FM modulator sounds like crap. I am no help for a trick install though

Re: Sirius radio add on problems...I know we've discussed this before

From what nopi08 mentioned, you may want to try this:
http://www.tss-radio.com/direct-adap...ay-p-4082.html

It splices the SIRIUS signal out line with your car's antenna line in, so it should greatly overpower any other signal coming down the antenna (from any surrounding radio stations).

I believe you also need an adapter. Per this PDF file (http://www.tss-radio.com/images/FM_A...dapter_App.pdf), I think you'll need this set:
http://www.tss-radio.com/volkswagena...it-p-4086.html

Yeah, I know that says Volkswagen/Audi...but that's what we use, I guess.
I'm going to be installing a SIRIUS kit tonight (or this weekend, at the latest), so I should have some inside info on "how to," if you decide to go that route.
