I plan on getting a SC or turbo setup next year. Some people call me dumb as it will likely be 5k+ and I should just get a V. I like being different though..... |

3.2 owners...do not read the following...do not hunt me down...cover your eyes.
I think the 3.2 is going out for GM. The 3.6 is here to stay and coming on future vehicles. I think there is a greater chance of future performance mods for the 3.6. Also, it seems like the 3.2 has more problems and seems harder to work on. I get that impression from the problems reported on the forum.

Besides, the old adage: There's no replacement for displacement.
Sorry 3.2 guys. I hope you will forgive me. |

Due to gearing (3.73 on 3.2 Manual ONLY) and lighter weight on the 3.2s I believe the performance between the two is similar.
Now, there are some differences. The 3.6l is stronger on the low end and has a more broad powerband. The 3.2 had a much weaker low end but came on hard at high RPM. The 3.6l is much more forgiving but if you know how to row the gears and keep the Rs up the 3.2 is no slouch.
I would like the the 3.6l to pull harder at high RPMs. It flattens out and I don't know why GM didn't make it much more aggressive at high RPM considering is has variable cam timing. May have been emissions.
IMO, the 3.6 is more powerful on the low end and more refined. The 3.2 was more fun to drive though.
BTW, I have a CAI on my '07 and also did on my '04 3.2. Quote:
