Re: Trunk struts... go bad often?

Well I had mine replaced a few weeks back under warranty & I thought that they were going to put an improved hinge on there too because i thought I had read somewhere that that's what they were doing, but they didn't. They just put new struts on there that are a lot stronger than the originals. Now it lifts up quickly & easy as Hell, but is hard to close with your hands full.

I also had my 04 struts replaced under warranty. I didnt think anything was really wrong with the old struts, but the issue was brougt to my attention by a previous thread on the forums.

I think the story was that the 03-06 struts were fairly weak compared to the new and improved 07 struts which were much stronger. Indeed this is true, with the 07 struts that were installed in my car, i can lift the trunk up with two fingers........and i have a spoiler!

Re: Trunk struts... go bad often?

My dealer told me these were not covered under warranty. Could this be true? I have a 2004 CTS that was certified so it has the extended warranty.

Not true. Mine were replaced about a month ago under the certification warranty. I would go back and talk to them again.
