    Front Shocks on a 2005?

My beloved 2005 3.6 has just turned 30,000 on the odometer.

Can anyone tell me when I should think about new front shocks.

Closer to 100k miles. I've never changed shocks on a car until they were over 100,000 miles. There really isn't a need to..

i agree, now adays you can go to 100,000 on original shocks unless your one that seems to hit every pot hole known to man.

Re: Front Shocks on a 2005?

I had mine replaced on 20,000 KM due to an annoying noise coming form them plus the riding wasn't as usual. When I hit 40,000km I noticed the same problem but the dealer didn’t find any problem on them so I let it go, now I'm almost 50,000 km and the noise is bad so I'm defiantly requesting a replacement.

I'm starting to believe that every time I need to change my pads I'll probably be doing the shocks too..

I've changed other GM nitrogen charged struts in the 80K range and been able to tell the difference, whether they really needed to be changed or not is open to question. I have no doubt that, under normal use, they're good to 100K.

The front struts on my '04 CTS were completely gone at 35K miles. The front end floated, bottomed, and bounced on every bump in the road. They were replaced on warranty and the car was back good as new.

    Thanks everyone!

Fortunately, I have no real ride or performance issues. I was just wondering.

I took a 4 year lease on this car, 1 year longer than I usually do. A 3 year lease spoils a guy, 'cause you're getting a new car before anything has time to wear out.
