Concept Cars - CTS 1st Generation

Remove this ad
Does anyone know if there was a concept shown prior to the release of the 1 generation CTS in late 2002 for the 2003 model year?

Now we have seen a concept for the CTS coupe and CTS Sports Model 08' at the auto-show but what about the 1st gen CTS? Was there a concept for this car which was slightly different than production model?

Re: Concept Cars - CTS 1st Generation

they did not have one(as far as i know)... they did not have one for the 08 cts either. they only do concepts for cars that already exist, to throw out some ideas to the public.

I think he meant 'that don't already exist' "concept" vehicles are usually vehicles that do NOT exist.

What u talkin bout Willis?? Where is the 16 then?? That doesnt exist and their is a concept....Concept are cars that COULD be in the future...they do them for cars that DONT exist to see the reaction to see if they should make something similar....Most of the time they take the details that had positive remarks and put them on future cars.....Concepts are usually cars that never make production....just a cool thing to see and for designers to see what people like......Damnit Lima Bean pay attention

The Evoq concept (1999), the Imaj concept (2000) and the Vison concept (2001) were the design inspirations for the first generation Art&Science Cadillacs.

The second generation is a natural evolution of that design and was introduced with the Sixteen concept (2003). You can see the influence of it's design in the BLS, '08 CTS and refreshened STS front end.

1999 Evoq - 2004 XLR

2000 Imaj - 2003 CTS

2001 Vison - 2004 SRX

Re: Concept Cars - CTS 1st Generation

Those cars still look very nice today, I think. Not as boxy, but crisp and good body lines. The roof on the Evoq is right off a fighter jet in style.

Re: Concept Cars - CTS 1st Generation

I wonder where that XLR concept car is today. Does anyone know where these cars end up? Is there a Cadillac museum or something?
