The left pic above are STS-V brackets and the right is CTS-V brackets. And yes, STS-V brackets need to be trimmed. Look at the red arrows in the pics. Notice the posts on the bottom of the brackets are trimmed off and the nose or post on the top is shorter in the CTS-V bracket on the right.
It goes like this... as I said in another thread some where:
ALL NEW fog-brackets are sold with the fog lights included, this makes them expensive. You may be able to find just the brackets in a junk yard some where, but it is a long shot.
CTS-V brackets = Perfect fit, NO cutting ($430 from gm parts direct)
STS-V brackets = Slight cutting of the posts to fit properly ($500 from gm parts direct) Also note: These have been bought a lot more because they come with clear fogs already that can be used on a CTS. Some people bought these instead of WW fogs because they were scared or too lazy to do the WW clear fog install.
Also the look of the clear STS-V fogs are slightly different then the WW clear fogs, and some people liked the STS-V clear fogs better.
Finally, people that bought STS-V fogs with regular CTS bumpers only for the fogs themselfs for the clear look, then had these STS-V brackets laying around. People doing the CTS-V bumper upgrade were able to put these STS-V brackets to use and bought them up.
CTS brackets = A lot of modification to get them to fit properly, but people say they have done it. (You already have these)
Hope this helps.
