I currently have 15% oil life remaining before my next oil change. I've already added 4 quarts of oil. I have no leaks. Dealer tells me this is "normal". I can't believe it. |

I dont know much about car problems my self but that is very low. I know i have 4700m on mine with 47% oil left and im not due for a change until 7000. I hope i dont get that low before hand. |

I change it once a year at approximately 7,500 miles which has never been less the 40% life remaining. I use Amsoil 0W-30 and the oil level never moves. Are you using synthetic oil?
Which brand?
Some brands of oil will burn off (volatility) worse then others, try changing to another at next change to see if it improves.

Have changed the oil every 5000kms since new and have had to add at least 1 litre of oil between changes. My dealer also says this is not excessive. Waiting on the GM service rep to respond. Keep you posted. |

1. Give your car some wide open throttle runs to clear the carbon buildup off the rings.
2. Take it to your mechanic and have them clean out the upper engine. (Not the fun way and it costs money)
3. CHANGE YOUR OIL MORE OFTEN. The sensor is for normal driving and on the gm website it says if you are in alot of stop and go driving you should still change your oil every 3000 miles or in dusty conditions. |

I am adding a quart of Mobil 1 at 3000 miles and was down a quart when I changed it recently. I know that FoMoCo claims that a quart every 1000 is considered "normal". (No Ford for me) |

I had been right at the 3 k mark and they said i only had a quart left... no low oil indicator or anything..
they tried to talk me out of having them tear the bottom half out and have a gm rep come out because they said my warr. claim would "probably" be denied...
Guess who's car has a new motor??
Stupid dealer.... GM said replace it, no questions asked | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
