Is it normal for cts w/3.6l v6 and 5spd auto to transfer a lot of vibration to your shifter? I've noticed it ever since i got the car new at the dealership.

    Re: Vibration in the shifter

I've never noticed any vibration at all in my shifter. Is this something you can notice only while your hand is actually touching the shift handle?

this is something i notice all the time when i have my hand on the shifter. Vibration is more severe when i'm accelerating. Maybe this is related to current howling noise issue

    Re: Vibration in the shifter

The '04 that I test drove last Summer had it big time.
The SRX I have now doesn't really do it unless I get way high up in the rev range.
The engine gets a little coarse at higher revs so maybe it is engine vibration coming through the drivetrain.

    Re: Vibration in the shifter

They all do it. Every one I've ever driven does it. I kinda like it cause it's in tune with the acceleration, so it feels sporty. I believe the shifter is directly connected to the trans - many shifters a "remotely" located and don't vibrate.

    Re: Vibration in the shifter

the vibration was noticed way before the car was out on market. it was put in the reports but they kept it that way... perfectly normal

i guess like miscreant says... it makes it feel more sporty im fine with it

I don't know of any automatics or manuals that don't vibrate when the shifter is directly connected to the trans.
