Cadillac CTS reliability

Thanks, Sal, for giving me permission to post this.

Because existing sources of auto reliability information left much to be desired, in late 2005 I started conducting my own reliability research at TrueDelta.com. TrueDelta reports absolute stats like "trips to the shop" that make the differences between cars much clearer. Results are updated four times a year, so it's possible to provide reliability information on new models quickly. Also, any significant changes in a model's reliability soon become apparent.

Thanks to the help of this forum, we've started providing results for the CTS, but sample sizes remain very small. More participants would be very helpful, so please sign up.

Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, at the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, panel members will receive full access to the results for free.

For the details, and to sign up to help out:

Re: Cadillac CTS reliability

Next results in February, with a preview in mid-January for participating members.

Current counts:
2003: 32
2004: 32
2005: 37
2006: 15
2007: 8
2008: 24

Total: 148

The total was just 100 a few months ago, so there has been progress. The 2006 and 2007 are still not included in the main survey, though, and results will almost certainly be asterisked (for insufficient sample size) for the other years in the next set of results.

More participants are very much needed.

Re: Cadillac CTS reliability

The next update will be posted soon. Sample sizes remain borderline for some years and insufficient for others, so more participants very much needed.

On a different topic, over in the 2008+ forum I've posted some pics of the upcoming coupe.

Re: Cadillac CTS reliability

Latest counts, number of owners signed up to participate:

2003: 31
2004: 30
2005: 40
2006: 16
2007: 9

2008: 46

In other words, there are now more owners signed up for the 2008 than any other model year--and the 2008 model year isn't even half way over.

In terms of responses, the picture is even more lopsided: 35 for the 2008, 15 to 16 for 2003-2005.

That ain't right

Results will be asterisked for insufficient sample size for all years. Let's get ride of these asterisks!

Re: Cadillac CTS reliability

The May update is fast approaching, with a preview for members in about a month.

I'd like to have larger sample sizes for the 2003-2005 this time. And hopefully also include the 2006 and 2007. Just need more people.

For the details, and to get your model year fully included:

Re: Cadillac CTS reliability

There are now 200 CTSs in the panel -- but 60 of those are 2008s.

Continue to need more of the first-gen cars.

This is the final month of data collection before the May results. If you've signed up to participate but haven't yet responded to the survey (via a link in the email you received), please do. And if you haven't signed up yet, I hope you'll consider doing so.

Re: Cadillac CTS reliability

We'll have updated results for the 2003, 2004, and 2005 next week, but all with asterisks.

Very much need more participants for the first-gen CTS. Far more owners of the 2008 are involved.

Help me provide equally solid information on your model year:

Re: Cadillac CTS reliability

Next update in August, with a preview for participants next month.

I'd very much like to get rid of those asterisks, and provide more precise results for the first-gen CTS. (In the May results it was about average.)

Re: Cadillac CTS reliability

With about 20 responses for each model year, it's looking like the results for the 2003, 2004, and 2005 will again be asterisked in August. Unless, of course, five more owners respond for each year in the next week.

Barring that, it's on to November. With additional participants for each year, we can get rid of those asterisks and have more precise results.

Re: Cadillac CTS reliability

I signed up but I keep getting broken links. Am I doing something wrong?

It's not anything you're doing. Sounds like your email program is breaking the links in the middle. The solution would be to copy the entire link (probably on two lines) and paste it into your browswer window.

Can you send me an email so I can learn which email program you use, and get you caught up? You can do this via the contact form on the site (link at bottom of every page) or by responding to any of the emails I send.

Re: Cadillac CTS reliability

We've started posting results separately for the regular CTS and the V--splitting the sample sizes. So additional participants would be even more helpful.

Re: Cadillac CTS reliability

Updated results soon. Since we're splitting the regular CTS and the V, additional participants needed.
