Actually, I love my car a lot... I love it SO much that I am a nervous wreck when its out of my site and in publc! Keep thinking someone's gonna jack my ride, or back into it, or put a ding in the door (right where the light catches it to remind you every time you approach the car). I'm totally paranoid! Is it normal for a new CTS owner to obsess like this about their car? :0 Please tell me that I'm not alone! |

I know exactly what you are talking about. I have the answer. I sleep in my car. If anyone notices and calls police, I am even happier, and I feel more secure.
Ain't nobody gonna mess with my car if police are nearby.
When I go for an oil change, I sit in pass seat. Just in case someone wants to jack car.
At drive thru, I keep windows closed so that no one points a gun at me.

Just because you have those hot wheels on a caddy, doesn't mean your any more prone to crime then the next Fast honda on 18's or bone stock Infiniti. Scratches will happen, doors will get opened into yours. If you really cant deal with it, let me know and i'll buy the 20's off of you before you trade it in. |

I got my car back from the bodyshop after an accident about a month ago. That night I parked in the lot in the front of my building. Next morning theres a fresh, deep scratch on the hood. Now thats a deliberate thing. While all around the lot, evry beat up chitty bangbang made it thru the night w/out evn dew falling on it. So yeah, I'm w/ you on that. This kind of sharp, clean caddy seems to attract as much bad attention as it does good. That said, I'll deal w/ the bulljunk every time out than roll around in a beatup foreign 4banger. |

I am the same way, but I dont feel safe with it in the driveway, must be in the garage with the doors locked, dog in the garage, alarm on the garage and car, and last but not least my sentry guns mounted on 3 sides of my garage. |

I don't take my car anywhere where it has to sit around for a while. When I do take it somewhere where I have to park it, I find a spot that's next to a curb (so only 1 car is beside me) and park it an inch (literally) from the curb. This way, people parked on the otherside can open their doors all the way and my car will still be safe. Never park it too far to the back, that makes it easy for people to vandilize.
If the weather's REALLY nice sometimes I drive it to school, where it's parked in a secured and monitored parking garage (I rented a spot from a condo.). Whenever my car's in for service the service dept. leaves the car inside for me during day and night.
If I go to a fast food place I sit somewhere where I can keep an eye on my car.
Call me crazy but there are way too many careless people in this world that just fling their doors open and way too many jealous *******s that will vandilize a nice car. Sometimes it's annoying having to find the perfect parking spot and stuff, but what can ya do?

I dont like leaving the v anywhere either, but it is not worth obsessing over.

Meanwhile a 50s Eldo would mean nothing to me... |

It just sounds like you guys are paranoid about it.
i actually have considered getting rid of my daily car (the maxima) and making the V my daily car. that way i would be less concerned about it as it starts racking up the miles and gets dings, scratches etc. right now i cringe at the thought of that first scratch. |

| | Cadillac Owners Fanatic Cadillac(s): 2003 CTS | | | | | Re: Anyone else afraid to park their car ANYWHERE other than their driveway? I park in the back 40 where there are no cars and walk the extra 30 seconds to where ever I'm going. But sure enough by time you get back there's an old beater parked right beside you with no other cars around. I think its a hearding instinct or something.
Anyhow, I try my best but still get dinged, what ya gonna do? My old Jeep wrangler had heavy duty plastic cladding all around it and the slab metal bumpers. Never a noticeable ding in it, doors just bounced off. Too bad the paint fell off on its own lol. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
