hey guys.
need some help picking a helmet.
i want a good quality one, DOT and SNELL certified. (dot is the minimum we have to have)
i really like the LOOK of this one but ive never heard of this brand... anyone know of anything similar? maybe in the $3-500 range?
i dont cheap out when it comes to safety.
i know its a car forum...but you never know maybe someone saw something somewhere.

Re: 24 Hour Random Spam Discussion Thread
If it meets snell approval, I don't think you have to worry about cheaping out on safety. A $500 helmet won't protect you any better than a $100 helmet. Where the extra money pays off is in features. Cooling especially. You will sweat and stink up a $100 helmet, where a $500 helmet will probably keep you feeling fresh. Don't underestimate the value of cooling. Plus the cheap helmets typically don't have any coating on the visor, which means fogging.

Re: 24 Hour Random Spam Discussion Thread
cheap doesnt always mean crap you are right on that one... but comfort, venting and fog are key things as you mentioned.
i want something that looks like it will suit a cruiser (black harley sportster) and that is average to good quality.
im borrowing a helmet off my bro in law till i find one i like.. its one he wore on a crotch rocket but it was like $7-800... super comfortable and ive borrowed it before... really good helmet. just it has cartoon ninjas on it or something like that..i cant remember exactly.
the other one he said i can use is i think the same helmet but with a diferent graphic, and hes only worn it a couple times. i only looked at it quickly but it looked like a red dinosaur head and where the visor is its the open mouth with teeth showing. looks cool, but not really harley style.
i think they are made by Icon.
i also need one that my oakleys will fit in. i got prescription polarised lenses and then prescription yellow ones. im just going to be wearing a clear visor on it, if i can get a mirror without tint ill get that...but i think you loose light as soon as you go mirror

Re: 24 Hour Random Spam Discussion Thread
It used to be...unfortunately (because it is a measure of American prosperity) 8 or 10 years is the average age of automobiles on american roads. And the average odometer reading is over 100,000 miles. Meanwhile in India and Red China, production and sales of new cars is booming. Nixon's China policy is really working out, for China. All we have to show for it is trinkets from WalMart, and of course, that we aren't dodging bullets marked "Made in China".

Re: 24 Hour Random Spam Discussion Thread
They clone and outright copy almost everything that we have... we can't win in any lawsuits, the government won't acknowledge our copyrights, etc... and then you say their business is booming. Its downright WRONG of them.

Merc lost to them for cloning their Smart car. Lets not even start in the software department either, where pirated software is installed on almost ALL their business computers, etc.
Sorry, but I'll NEVER buy a Chinese car... even if they somehow end up good, and it would be because of this.
I'd easily give Hyundai and Kia much more credit. They built some crap cars in the beginning... but then they worked on it and built their own. They never had to full out CLONE cars.

Re: 24 Hour Random Spam Discussion Thread
It was either share our wealth with them willingly, or they'd take it by force. I don't think anyone really wants to fight a billion Chinese soldiers.

I don't think it was like that. They could have a billion chinese soldiers...

LOL Numbers occasionally mean nothing when up against the right foe, with the right plan.

Re: 24 Hour Random Spam Discussion Thread
At the time Nixon and Bush formulated the policy, China was supporting North Vietnam and Americans were dying. The point is that sharing the wealth was deemed better than continuing to keep the bodybag manufacturers in business.

They, and others come to N.America & get a high quality education, then go back home & use it against us.

Chinas cheap manufacturing procedures and poor quality will eventually catch up with them. I've bought cheap Chinese eBay crap and I am done with it because it breaks or fails quickly.

Re: 24 Hour Random Spam Discussion Thread
That's their whole philosophy. Because their ideal is that everyone have say, a frying pan, the cheaper the pan can be made and sold for the better. That the darn thing is going to break because of its poor quality is irrelevant. They were equal, at least for while.
I saw something in a local newspaper article that said that in some poor part of the world or another, the people had the choice of an American generator made to last, or a Chinese generator that only works for two years. The american generator sat on the shelf and gathered dust and the cheap chinese ones sold like hotcakes. The people were barely able to afford the chinese one and couldn't pay for the good one, even though it was cheaper in the long run.
