my buddy just picked up a 2006 ninja 650r. just checked it out, he got a amazing deal, the guy even gave him a new leather icon jacket..i was looking at the same jacket a couple months ago and it was $4-500...maybe 6 i cant remember but it wasnt cheap.
he paid $3100 for the bike and jacket delivered to his house.

i sat on the bike after riding my CBR600rr...wow that ninja is comfortable. i just dont think the suspension and riding position would suit me...and i like the looks of mine better.

went for a little ride with him, he just got his plates on today, and i showed him how to change his oil. he stalled it a couple times but overall he did really good. im going to take him for a ride tomorrow too.

Yeah they are ridiculously comfy that's another reason why I got it. I love touring on it. And they are extremely affordable. Just make sure he runs the correct fuel, everyone thinks they need to run high octane but they run better on 87 (US octane).

thanks for the fuel tip... i thought most bikes were tuned for 91 because of the ethanol they put in the 87 and 89.
i always run 91 in my cts and my bikes.. there is barely any cost difference... especially on the bike.. yer talking 50 cents total on a full tank.

Do you guys understand octane? Lol... You're probably losing power and efficiency by running a higher than recommended octane.

High compression engine calls for higher octane correct?

    Same here
Manual calls for 91 or higher for the CTS and I know my Ninja has a high compression engine so I run 93 in it and occasionally add 2 gallons of 115 to it, mainly if I'm going to the strip

Doesn't look much like a CTS at all. More like a Honda, and that front emblem looks more like a Buick shield.Hard to see anything with all those water drops.

It is not at all that simple. Octane is a flame retardant, add more and you lose power.

Higher octane rating = more flame retardant

Using what was meant for your car will give you the best performance.

The reason you need a higher octane in higher compression motors is because you're trying to avoid pre-dets by making the fuel harder to ignite.

Well my CTS calls for 91 or higher and most stations around me carry 93
The Ninja's compression is 12.2:1 so 100 Octane is the minimum according to my research and 108 is the max
Mixing 3 gallons of 93 and 2 gallons of 115 equals out to a 100-102 octane mixture.
I only put the 115 in when I know I am going to the strip not to mention it's $7-8 a gallon

If you aren't tuned for 115, it'll be useless to put in, IMO
