sorry, hopefully no one minds that I am reviving an old thread... but my question is related.

I am also planning on buying a K&N intake for my '03 off of ebay. Do I want the 57 series or the 63 series? K&N's website shows that my car is compatable with the 57, however, on ebay most listed are the 63 (which the sellers claim fit an 03).

So which series do you K&N owners have installed? Will both fit?

Re: First post... been lurking around. Question???

for you out there looking for sound on the K&N intake this is what it sounds like on my Caddy"3.2" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4M0Vrwuil8E
i myself was going to go for the Volant but decided not too because i think it sucks, produces less power, soounds like shit and just looks ugly
i would say go with the K&N if you want that mean car of yours to sound mean and if not then get the Volant.....

Re: First post... been lurking around. Question???

Here are the two different series K&N intakes I am looking at for my 3.2. Someone who has a K&N please let me know which series they are running as I am confused about this!

57 series (this is what K&N's website tells me I need)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...45#ht_2350wt_0

63 series
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=230246230386

Thanks

Re: First post... been lurking around. Question???

Back in the day the kids used to take the top off the aircleaner for a meaner sound. They do the same thing in the car chase scenes in "B" movies. Since the increase in sound is all inside the car it's pretty juvenile. Most of the impartial comparative tests show a loss in power with an aftermarket intake.

How can that be so? "The great air intake challenge" showed pretty considerable horse power gains from after market intakes on the CTS.

Re: First post... been lurking around. Question???

Look into an aFe intake, I have one on my o5. It`s hard to tell it is there when driving it easy, when you open up the throttle it has a nice sound.
The aFe also uses a `dual cone` type air filter that i think is superior to those in the Volant and K&N kits. The airbox is also well enclosed so hot engine air doesn`t get to it. It definately gave me a power boost and if I keep my foot out of it the milage is at least as good as stock.

Here is the intake

This it is installed, it went in easy too.

Re: First post... been lurking around. Question???

Yeah I like the look of the afe as well. It's a quality product Any idea if it would also fit a 3.2? The website only has it listed as being compatible with the 3.6. That is why I was going to go with the K&N.

Re: First post... been lurking around. Question???

It is not made for a 3.2....The K&N may be your only option.
