3 of them had and aftermarket mesh type grill. On each of them, the Caddy emblem was crooked, kind of like the salespeople...???? One of the emblems also had a blemish in the colored glass of the emblem.
One of the emblems was mounted with about 1/8th of an inch from being straight up and down; the second was mounted about 1/4 inch from straight up and down. I do not remember the third emblem offset.
These were on a DTS, STS, and CTS. |

At first, I thought I was seeing things, but I got up close and sure enough, it was crooked. The emblem is so big on the back of the Escalade, it's really noticeable.
40, 50, 60 + thousand dollars for a Cadillac (depending on the model) and noone at the factory cares enough to make sure their brand is at least straight???
Speaks volumes for the union workers who's main concern is doing the least amount of work for the maximum amount of wages.
I will bet my CTS you would NEVER find a Mercedes with their tri-point logo crooked..... EVER.
Made in the U.S.A. doesn't mean what it did 20 years ago.
Sad. |

The vehicle could have been damaged and repaired or tampered with. Besides, in response to the union bashing, no employee is going to rise above the pattern set by their management. |

That still doesn't change the fact that unions are not what they were meant to be and their "collective bargaining" which was intended to protect the workers from exploitation is never used for protection but for abuse of this bargaining power which results in inflated prices for us end users. That's a fact and you can try any angle but this bottom line will not change.
Those who take the TTC in Toronto would know what I'm talking about (I know I should always be driving my Caddy but I work Downtown). Nothing but strikes and quarterly price hikes. |

I know I'm going to sound like a liar but the only picture I had of it my friend took with his cell phone and before he could send it to me we were out biking trails and he fell and broke his phone. Picture lost. |

My grill was so bad that I had to break the welds on the emblem mounts and re-spot weld them. Then I had to send the grill out to be re-plated. The average person doesn't have access to this equipment. In addition, the mounts on the oem v-grill have 2 centering holes that align with pins on the emblem to keep them centered. The aftermarket ones have no centering holes. This is why almost all of the cheap e-bay grills have croked/un-centered emblems. I wouldn't say it is poor workmanship from the factory! You get what you pay for! |

I know the grill for my last car came without an emblem as you had to reuse the original emblem. I would say that the dealership was to blame there...shoddy work. I know some of these aftermarket V grills don't fit well. I had one, it came with a Cadillac emblem that had a black background in the center...there was a 1/2 inch gap between this grill and the bumper. xocomaox Again, Id be highly surprised if a Mercedes left the factory that way. Most cars today get visual checks, this wouldnt pass inspection before it left the plant.
I would say the car had bodywork done and the emblem was replaced crooked. |
