My question is will it be the same process for a cts non-V?
Will there be more , or less fluids being use ,and is the procedure the same? I know our cts fluid cap in the tranny is 9.5 qts. or am i wrong ?
Any info will be helpful, want to change all my fluids in the cars , and upgrade to either royal purple or mobil one in my diff, and tranny. Thanks |

I'm not sure of the amount of fluid for the tranny, but I have had mine done twice now. (177 000kms) It's as smooth as the day that I got it. I would get it done. I comes stock with sync. I think that it is Mobil 1, since GM uses it on most there Cadillacs. I can't remember what oil I used for the diff, it was a sync and it makes it all smooth. As you can tell I like the sync oils. Just ask the dealer, they will tell you what weight to get. Changing the diff oil is really easy. If your car is lowered it's a good time to check the seels to. |

It's been a while since I have done it, but this weekend coming I am doing the drive shafts and the rear wheel bearings, while I'm under it I will look again. |

Has a drain and fill plug that have to be discarded, not reusable. The trans filter is pricey. I recently called my AC Delco dealer and my discount cost is about $50 for the filter. No after-market trans filter available. I am waiting for him the call back to let me know if the new trans plugs come with the filter kit or if they have to be ordered.
It does not appear the trans is an easy do-it-yourself project. Special tools required to remove the filter seals. If you do a search of the trans topic you will see I asked this question recently and someone posted the service manual pages applicable. As for them coming with Synthetic ATF, not from what I been able to learn. No one really knows what the plant installs in them, anyone opinion is mearly a guess but common sense would tell you is probably came from the lowest bidder to meet the spec.
The rear axle is easy, drain plug in botton and fill plug on top. Exhaust pipes close by. Best done on lift, car must be level to get proper fill, need means to inject lube. Use the best synthetic you can find and you should be able to get a min of 50,000 miles and likely 2x that.
I am using AMSOIL

The drain and the fill plug are close to the same level. I found that using a suction pump worked well. (not that type, for all you with dirty thoughts) I think that's what they are called. Looks like a grease gun with a hose on the end. |

Don't change the filter, your car is only 2 years old how bad can it be. |

Might just as well replace it with a new filter and then I will be go for as long as I own the car. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
