Bumper removal

Remove this ad
I keep seeing over and over "Remove the bumper" and now that my next project is going to be the HID Headlights and LED light replacement, I am trying to access whether I can do this or not.

I've seen www.jon04ctsv.com tutorial on removing the bumper, but my question is, can this be done by 1 person, relatively easily? I'm not a great mechanic, but I know what end of the hammer to hold. But I don't have a lot of help, am I wasting my time thinking about doing this myself?

Re: Bumper removal

i removed/replaced it myself when i replaced my headlamp units and installed my v grill. it's a little tricky for one person when you get to the part where you take it off or put it back on, but not unmanageable. i'm fairly mechanically inclined, but far from an automotive guru. i say go for it, but better give yourself a whole afternoon to get it done.

Re: Bumper removal

The only time you want another person is when you are pulling it off and don't want it to bend or crack, and when you are mounting it back on. Don't need skill for that, really.

Pat, that is funny. Armed with a Pat?

Re: Bumper removal

The problem is the bumper is long and difficult to support. The material is flimsey and can wiggle on you. I wouldn't want to scratch or crack the paint so I recommend 2 people.
