I've got the 114.3 & plastic rings on mine & was going about 105 on the way into work the other day. Not the slightest hint of a vibration anywhere.
I had a very long converstaion with a very knowledgable older man at American Racing when I was researching putting the 114.3 bolt pattern on my car & he said that a lot of wheel manufactures that make a 114.3 actually drill out the holes to 115 or slightly larger anyways because different cars have different sized lug bolts & they need to be able to fit larger bolts as well as the smaller ones and the lug nut, when properly tightened, will center the wheel without the use of the rings. They market them as 114.3 since there's a larger market for them, but they will fit the 115 cars.
But on the other hand, I've read things on here where people say the manufacturer they talked too say the 114.3 won't work on our cars. All I can tell you is they've worked flawlessly on mine & I've had it up to speed several times! I actually didn't even have rings on mine for a few days & still didn't have any problems, but ended up putting them on just because I figured it would be best to have them on there if I have to take the car in for work becuase I know the techs at the dealership won't take as much care as me ensuring the nuts are tightened properly. |

thanks | Well, the very first day my car vibrated like CRAZY! that was without hub rings. Now my steering wheel just vibes a little. My hub rings should be here any day now. I've been driving around 110-140km/h with these wheels w/o hub rings, its fine. Post a pic of the wheels! |

I chose the metal hubcentric rings. Never drive over 100mph. It's stupid! Ask the law and insurance companies. A lot of tires aren't even rated for high speeds. |

Have you had your wheels off lately & have you seen any signs of corrosion? | This discussion was had a while back. I was told by a wheel manufacturer not to use the metal rings because the corrosion could actually bond the wheel to the ring & the ring to the hub, making it very difficult to get the wheel off. I've been running plastic rings for a couple months now & have had my wheels off twice & have had no problems with the plastic rings crushing. |

How does the hub ring work.. sits between hub and rim.. what does it do? keep a space between the two? and i thought 114.3 vs 115 was the difference between the spaceing of the bolt pattern. If thats the case how does the difference work. the wheel still fits into the existing bolt pattern? |

The wheels companies tries to max their design by over drilling the hub hole to 114.3 and using hub-centric rings to make up the difference to 115. Then the wheels will fit a multitude of cars. 115 is perfect but it often limits your choices of wheels. That's what happened to me. I loved the wheel but it wasn't available as 115. So I used the metal hub-centric rings. No problems.
Make sense? |

Yes, one for each rim. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
