Unhappy Temperature Gauge Misreading?

Remove this ad
2004 CTS 3.6L 1SB Sport Luxury Model. recently had the dealer replace the instrument cluster to resolve the intermittent sport mode button problem. The sport mode now remains engaged between engine start cycles.

However, I noticed the new temperature gauge sits one mark below 1/2 range when the engine is at normal operating temp, whereas original temperature gauge was rock steady at 1/2 range during normal operating temperature since purchasing the car new in Nov 03.

Dealer proclaims nothing is wrong, just slightly different variation in the gauges. Where does your temp gauge rest during normal operating temperature? Should I be concerned?

Re: Temperature Gauge Misreading?

Mine reads exactly 1/2 when ambient is anywhere from -55F(Alaska) to +121F(Mojave Desert). The dealer is lying to you and hoping you'll go away.

Re: Temperature Gauge Misreading?

they messed up a bit when they installed the new cluster. the needle is a bit off. the needles actually do come off and if they are put on wrong they will make the guage be off. is it a bad thing? only if it annoys you.

getting to the gauges is a pain in the ass that the dealership really doesnt want to go through again.

Unhappy Re: Temperature Gauge Misreading?

The dealer service manager refuses to replace the instument cluster again stating he could not guarantee the next temp gauge would read 1/2 way as it has since I owned the car.

Recently I received the OnStar Online Diagnostic Report via email and it's indicating I have 5 new"problems" in the car, that did not exist prior to cluster replacement!!!!

Cadillac customer service is useless ! The rep continues to defer to the dealer service manager for tech advice!

HELP!
