So it took me 4 months, but I finally purchased my cadillac! Black 2007, 3.6L, two-tone interior with the woodtrim....

New to this forum, and still new to forums in general. (1st post ever) So go easy on me... But has anybody changed out their headunit for an aftermarket nav. unit?

I'm looking at the Pioneer AVIC-D3. Sick unit, touch sceen DVD/GPS with integrated ipod, and optional blue-tooth and back up camera.

I have searched around a bit, but can't seem to find out too much about the install to a Cadillac. I know it's definitely not a DIY job, but wanted to see pics if anybody else had aftermarket navigation installed.

Located in So. Cal,, so if anybody has a recommendation on a good audio shop would appreciate it too.

Re: The newbie

Welcome Dipptiy8! Congrats on the new ride. I can't help with the nav questions but maybe someone will come along with your answer. Enjoy the forum and the new car.

Re: The newbie

haha i love how RT is like the president of the welcoming party, welcome aboard!! great ride you purchased, the aftermarket unit is possible, not an easy job to keep the DIC functional, a forum member has done it and if you check cadillacfaq.com you will find instructions on the install, do you have navigation in your ride now?? not happy with it if you are??

**edit heres the procedure so you dont have to go rummaging around 2 new sites at once...http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/answe...dic/index.html

SD or LA? most people get the Pioneer AVIC-Z1...i am thinking of getting the Z1 to replace my stock nav

but the first thing you need to get is a grill and some rims

Re: The newbie

Thanks for the pics. Which unit is that?

Currently I have no navigation,...... aftermarket had more features that I wanted (ex. touchscreen).

Rblimas...I'm in the LA area. Isn't the z-1 $800 more and only have preloaded GPS, and I don't think it has the IPod adapter yet. Correct me if I'm wrong.

How much can I expect for install? Don't mind the cost, just don't want a chop job. Have checked a few places in my immediate area, but don't have experience with them. WOuld prefer to go to an installer that's done at least one before.

the Z1 has no ipod adapter but the Z2 does...i just looked at pioneer's website and the Z2 is going to replace the Z1 and the Z2 has ipod adapter. the thing i like most about the z2 is it has a 30gb hard drive 20gb for the navigation and 10gb for all your music

i want the z2 now

by the way i am not that familiar with LA but if you go to the escalade forums you might find someone that will install it
