Interior Lights wont turn off !!

I need some help.

Yesterday, I installed an iCOnnect in my 06 CTS. Base radio, no XM.
Bought from gm_geek.

I haven't had radio "tech2" yet, so iConnect isn't working yet.

All seemed perfect last night. I drove car today in daylight to dealer to get Tech2 update. Arranged appointment for Monday.

Washed car tonight.

Went for a drive to dry out the brakes, and I noticed that the interior lights are on, and don't go off, no matter what I do.

Called Onstar. Not much help.

Have been reading my owners manual, and my GM shop manual. No simple solution. Shop manual says that you have to use scan tool to look for a faulty door switch, or instrument panel lighting switch.

I've disconnected iConnect plug from wiring, so it shouldn't be an issue.

Any ideas what to look for? Haven't found the fuse for the circuit yet. If it doesn't shut off in the next while, I'm going to pull the battery ground for now, and see what the dealership service folks tell me tomorrow. Probably blame the iConnect.

John.

Re: Interior Lights wont turn off !!

After several engine start cycles, lock, unlock doors, the interior lights have returned to normal.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Anyone with an iConnect or Neucleus have any problems with iterior lights?

Re: Interior Lights wont turn off !!

i found myself in this predicament the other day....
Are you sure the little button by the overhead lights (the thing that dims/brightens your dash) in the front isn't just pushed all the way down. If it's all the way down all the interior lights stay on even if you shut the car off and lock it.
I hit by accident and didnt know what it did, took me a couple of days to figure it out. Maybe u did the same???

Re: Interior Lights wont turn off !!

Hi ILLMATIK
I've checked the overhead instrument dimmer slider, and it seems to work OK. I've made sure it isn't in the full ON position (forward). I have read others have had problems with this switch.

I think I've read that there is a TSB about this problem. Anyone have the TSB?

Today, everything seems to be normal, with the iConnect connected, though the radio still does not recognize it. Hopefully Monday that will be corrected.

When it's in the garage, and I open a door, the lights go on. Close the door, and after the normal delay, the Theatre dimming works, and the lights go gradually out.

When it's outside, and there is enough light, everything works just fine, and no lights come on.

It's a dark, grey day today. When I got some gas, and the car was under the roof at the gas station, the lights came on, and the instruments warned me to turn on the lights. Once I was clear of the roof, it was happy again, no lights.

I guess I'll have to watch it for a while to see what it does.

At least when it was misbehaving last night, it did turn the lights off after about 10 minutes. Probably the battery protection circuit turning things off.

I'm just a bit anxious about the iConnect, and if it screws up the Class 2 Serial Data circuit, and gives me grief. I really want my iPod interface to work in the car.

John.

Re: Interior Lights wont turn off !!

Some people keep a small bb gun (pistol) in car. System will eventually turn off (45 minutes??) so your battery does not go bad. BB gun can speed up process, but you have to shoot out one bulb at a time.

Re: Interior Lights wont turn off !!

Well, being a law abiding Canadian, I don't have a hand gun.

Would also make a mess.

I'll keep that in mind when I go to New Hampshire for a vacation in May. Not sure If I would trust brining it to a US Cadi dealer.
