First Oil Change

Remove this ad
My o6 CTS was built in May 06.

I took delivery (new) in January, but the car has been in the garage mostly since delivery. It's reading about 500KM now. I own the car, and plan to keep it for a very long time.

I'll start to drive it regularly tomorrow after my Silverado gets picked up by the new owner.

I'm planing on going on a trip to Boston area late May.

By then I should have about 2000 KM or so. I plan on taking the car in for it's first free oil change before the trip. The DIC will no doubt show about 90% remaining oil life.

The manual tells me to change the oil at least annually, so it will be due time wise. I figure the car has had several test drives, with long periods between. Lots of time for condensation to build up. I like doing the first oil change early, to get rid of any production debris in the oil or filter.

Any ideas what the dealership will tell me?

Any recommendations.

Re: First Oil Change

Well, all maintenance for your Canadian CTS will be free of charge (including brakes and air filters!)

I'm sure your dealer will change your oil free of charge, as it'll have been about 5 months or so, not sure what the regular interval was, but on dino it's something like 5000kms or 4 months? I think your 3.6 uses synthetic from the factory no?

Edit: You're right, I just checked my Manual and it says your OLM will tell you to change it by within 12 months. Hmmm... Call up your usual service adviser and see what he says...

Re: First Oil Change

I'm not so sure that the DIC will tell me it's been 12 months.
I guess I'll find out soon enough.
