Question Aftermarket Clutch?

Remove this ad
Just about to hit 50k miles and it appears as though the dealership will be replacing my engine. Since they will have the car apart, I would like them to examine/replace the clutch.

Are there any aftermarket clutch assemblys available for the 3.6 6MT? I have searched for a few days now and have only found V clutch replacements. Any ideas? What about a short shifter for the 6MT?

Re: Aftermarket Clutch?

I havent looked for a clutch as I don't need it replaced yet. Chances are, there isnt a performance replacement.

B&M have listed a short shifter for the CTS for a few years.

http://www.bmracing.com/index.php?id...at=3&subcat=15

You're welcome to try it. It hasnt been talked about much. I personnally don't need shorter throws in the CTS.

Re: Aftermarket Clutch?

In short, my engine is consuming 2+ quarts of oil every 1,000 miles. Its not dripping out, no evidence of any leak, I am not puffing smoke at startup, no strange smells. Basically my engine is burning oil somehow somewhere and so far after 6 months neither the dealership or GM have had any remedies.

As of today, they have the engine out and apart and a GM tech will be visiting the dealership to asses the next steps. I believe that there MUST have been some damage done to my engine due to this issue and I expect an engine replacement. If they say 'rebuild', I will fight tooth and nail for a new engine entirely because this is unnacceptable for a car I purchased NEW in 05.

As for the short throw, the B&M one is ONLY for the Tremec 6 speeds and not the ASAIN 6 in the 3.6. I would like to put an aftermarket clutch in because I know that GM will charge me an arm and a leg for a stock clutch anyway.
