40 more hp

have this chip i bought from this guy/store on ebay ... said it would add up to 40 hp to my cts ... goes into the IAT sensor ....
i went to the auto place in town to find my iat, and the guy said that the chip would cause my check engine light to go on. I didnt install it for that reason. But, would it have to be inplace a long time for the light to come on (can i put it in every other week or so and unistall it in the meantime) and can't i reset my battery or something to turn the CE light off?
20 bucks for 40 hp aint bad, ya know?
let me know... i'm itching to move on this, but not if its a totally dumb move

Dude . . . you spent $20 on a $0.20 resistor. I'm not sure why the guy said it adds 40HP . . . he could have just as easily said it adds 100HP!

Unless you understand completely how it works, never trust a stranger on their word with such bogus claims. Basically it adds resistance to the sensor signal going to the ECU. The ECU thinks that more (or colder) air is flowing and sends more fuel into the engine, making it run a little richer. The byproduct of running richer is lower gas mileage and eventually fouling plugs.

all you need is a turbonator from ebay and then you'll be all high performance, throw in the chrome colored pillars i got from ebay and you'll look good too.

Being a part of this forum is supposed to prevent you from being taken like that. If you would of just discussed this with the guys here first, you could of saved 20 bucks. And just like most things on EBay, if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.
