Well my girlfrind broke my stock navigation, so to replace it a purchased an after market CD/DVD/Navgaton head unit. When I installed it the gauages went crazy and nothing works right. Does anyone know if the aftermarket navigaton will work, or tips to where I can find a replacement

Re: Help factory Navigation screen broken

Not sure what you're asking. She broke the OEM NAV screen and it needs repaired? Where does the aftermarket DVD/CD/NAV come it the picture?

I don't think you can order just the screen. Maybe you can cut a new one? Removing the NAV is rather easy.

Re: Help factory Navigation screen broken

The screen is broke beyond repair. I check on the replaement from cadillac and it was like $1,000. So picked a new aftermarket pioneer head unit and when I installed it my gas guage stoped working, and my speedometer, and odometer change to kilometers. My qestion how to get everything working with my pioneer head unit I installed

Re: Help factory Navigation screen broken

Something here does not compute. I never heard of any aftermarket head unit that will work with a CTS without severe cut, chop, and adapt.

Ummmmm...yep like KOZ said...it takes alot to get on to work......if I were you, I would put everything back like it was, tell me when you have all the wiring just like it was before, and everything is working, then lets talk about putting in your aftermarket unit....I dont know what you have done, or did so I cant help until you have everything back to normal and working.....Sorry thats not the answer your looking for, but this type of install isnt for the armchair quaterback.........

Re: Help factory Navigation screen broken

I don't want to get any hopes up but I may have a screen that I can replace it with. The last time I looked at one of the OEM LCD panels, it looked like similar, if not identical, to an LCD panel I have laying on my parts shelf. If you want to venture to actually remove the LCD panel itself and take a photo of the back of the panel, I can confirm whether or not the LCD panel I have can replace it. I just need to see where and what type of ribbon the screen uses to communicate with the controller board.

And as everyone else said, replacing the head unit on these cars isn't as easy as other cars.

Yup, I still keep a watchful eye. I'll chime in every now and then when I get the time. I'm just extremely busy with school and that's about all I have time for now. Surprisingly, this whole road to becoming a doctor thing actually requires some work. The CTS is just chilling as it is with no new mods. It's waiting to retire later this year when the 2008 comes out

Re: Help factory Navigation screen broken

If you want to do it the right way, research a thread by darkwingfrog, he installed it and shows how to keep the DIC working.....Basically what your going to do......Take your existing headunit.....take it out of the car, take the guts out of the center area, leaving and/or moving the DIC circuit board up into the top....this will leave a center area that you will have to trim to fit your aftermarket headunit....then you will be able to install a system in your car.....Im hoping you dont have Bose....Have you installed soundsystems or headunits in the past?

Have you thought about just getting a stock DVD/Nav and returning what you bought?

Re: Help factory Navigation screen broken

Your best bet is Ebay, or searching some online junkyards that will look for you and contact you when they find something.....Or like MBAI2 said take a pic for him and let him see the back, he might have a part for you.......Other than that, they are sometimes hard to come by, almost everyone on this site is looking for one if they didnt already get one.....

What DVD/nav did you buy? I have stock navi, and have wanted to add aftermarket just for fun........maybe trade ya....

Re: Help factory Navigation screen broken

You can also have them sent out and replaced... We send broken ones out and have them repaired..

Aftermarkets don't work without the adaptors because the dic is in there as well..
