Cadillac or competing brand model ? Why ? Discussion, 2008 Lexus IS-F in Item Specific Cadillac Discussion; Latest rumors put the new IS-F at 500hp...
500 hp won't mean crap unless they put a decent transmission in it, either! And I'm not talking about being able to handle the power. I'm talking about being able to use it properly, and how you want. The manumatic in the IS350 is a piece of crap. Or many pieces or crap.
Several cars are getting power boosts and redesigns for 08/09, but who will be out on top is anybody's guess until all details are made public, most probably at the auto show in Jan. Until then it's all rumor and scuttlebutt.
As for the Lexus IS-F...
It needs more than good performance to make me take notice. It falls into the same place as the WRX STi and Neon SRT-4 in my opinion (albeit a leather-wrapped, tech laden addition). It's fast, but I wouldn't waste the space in my garage with one. Great engineering, but uninspiring or forgettable design.
Maybe my opinion will change when I see one in person at NAIAS... but it would have to turn out to be very "un-Lexus-like" for that to happen.

Re: 2008 Lexus IS-F
In my view, because it is a Lexus, which isn't well know to be a performance brand, the IS-F will have to be different. But I wonder how it should be different. I doubt the engine will be enough, some siginificant exterior changes probably should be made.
