unfortunatly, i dont have a pic handy, butthose gauges look exactly like the ones in a early 80's f-series pick-up except for the silver facing (fod used black)....every day i saw those i would deffinatly be drawn back to the old ford trucks.....will they have an optional digital dash? =)

Re: versus Lincoln MKS
See Brian, the square gauges are just a '70s Ford thing. They had the same style of guage in the Mark III, IV and V, and all of the '80s Town Cars. I really like them. It makes it classy and it doesn't borrow any other trends or designs on the market now.
While I can't argue with you about Ford's use of square guages, the fact it's a Navigator and it has them still screams tacky to me. I know, probably not looking at the whole picture, but I just can't help it.
Theyre boring, dull, and very 80s, especially compared to the beautiful electroluminescent gauges from before. The 80s are associated with crappy cars from Detroit, and thats not a part of the Lincoln heritage that people should be reminded of.

Re: versus Lincoln MKS
I was really enjoying those Navigator interior shots until I saw the speedo. I'm not "feeling that" at all. Retro or not, they look out of place in that vehicle. The center stack and door panels though are works of art. My SRT-8 pales in comparison to those.
It does look a lot nicer than the previous Navigator. I rented an '05 Navigator and hated it. I remember that it looked nice until you actually had to touch it, then it felt horribly cheap. It's the little stuff that's annoying.. switches that feel loose, that super flimsy cover over the stereo/Nav..etc.
I like it. I think it will sell very well. If you think it looks like an altima think about it as the top of the line altima/maxima. It doesn't have the tradition lincoln style but whats wrong with change.
Because if people want to buy an Altima, they can go to a Nissan dealership and pay alot less. This is just giving in, going the easy route. Anyone can do the cheap and easy imitation job, that's why so many cars look exactly the same these days. Copying and imitating are a Japanese thing to do, why does Lincoln have to?
I've been howling for years that Detroit needs to up the quality of their interiors to truly compete. I love my STS to death, but the interior is a joke compared to BMW, Audi, Mercedes, etc. Ford may finally have a winner.. if the car's nice inside but otherwise hideous, it will still sell. The new 7 Series BMW is proof of this.
Are you serious???? Have you sat in the new 5 series from BMW??? THAT interior is a joke. Its all plastic...I was disgusted sitting in that car, I'll take the STS interior any day.
