Well then tell that to the millions of people out there who have bought Ferrari's, Porsche's, Lamborghini's, Pagani's, Saleen S7's, Koeingsegg's, etc. over the years. Tell them that they made a poor choice and should have just gotten a Z06 instead. They will laugh you right out of the place
Motor Trend got a 11.78 for the GT's 1/4 mile time. "Manufacturer estimates" on the 2006 Z06 are 11.7.

You seem to forget that the 06 ZO6 hasn't been available "over the years." I'm not going to tell someone they made a bad choice because if they like the car enough to pay hundreds of thousands more then they can do that. It's just that in a current market situation could just have a faster car for cheaper, that's all.

I think you might need to take a marketing class too. Look at the sales figures. Look at the drop in age of the average owner. Look at the physical improvements made to the cars which is actually what the billions was spent on.

And look at GM as a brand....wth happened to it? All the money that could have been spread was put into the one brand that isnt mainstream.

Re: Ford sales at record low

Like the ebb and flow of the tide, all corporations go through peaks and troughs. GM is in the beginning stage of a massive restructuring that will be sure to impress. Let's not forget those times when Ford has been having the same financial troubles as well as making piss-poor decisions......Edsel....4-door t-bird.....boss 302......I don't want to have to list things like that but it's to make a point. This isn't a Ford vs GM debate, it wasn't ever intended to be. Both companies have made serious blunders over time, and both have recovered every time. Let's look at the facts. GM = largest auto manufacturer in the world. Ford = not too far behind them. Quality-wise = pretty much equal. Neither is Lexus, but neither is MB. The Ford GT is just a plain awesome vehicle, for $150,000. The Z06 is just plain awesome too, for $70,000. And let's face it, the 427 scares the hell out of pony car drivers. But in the end, they're both made by American car companies that have been in a rivalry since the beginning of time. We're not that different. GM is just a little bigger, that's all. And the money put into turning Cadillac into the coolest car company in America? Well, you judge for yourself. As much as you want to defend Ford, and that's fine, I defend GM, you have to admit you wished Lincoln had something that could fight with a CTS-V. Cadillac has re-invented itself. Ford has the new pony car. GM has financial difficulties. Ford sales are at a record low. So what now?

GM isnt really a brand, its a corporation. Brands like Cadillac help to separate the product from the parent company, forming an independent identity and more appeal with consumers. People buy Cadillacs now without thinking "Oh, but the Olds and Buick versions are cheaper."

Not to mention how bad it would be for the American economy if Ford went out of business. I wouldn't wish that on ANY American car company.

We spent a lot of time and energy talking about retiring GM brands Buick and Pontiac.

    What about Mercury?

Go to this site, read every spec and description, then add in the early tests that show 0-60 in 3.66-3.71, qtr mile times of 11.56-11.70, top end of over 190mph, the use of carbon fiber in the frame and fenders, then explain again how the GT at more than twice the price is special!

RIP Marauder! Sure, its a gussied up Grand Marq, but it has a stunning, intimidating presence.
