I've always liked the TC. Before I got my '91 I was pricing out the '98 and newer TCs. I view the Lincoln as somehow more classy, and any 2000+ Deville a better handling and sportier car. I think the TC needs 50 more hp and it would compete better with the DTS.
The town car competes with the DHS more then the DTS...but I agree with the TownCar being the more classy car....I have always loved Towncars as that great to cruise around in car.....it may be old tech but it works........the DTS is the handler of the two but I feel that the Deville still has to overcome a cheapy interior.
The last time I tried to compared these two, people mentioned how they weren't really in the same class. That the Town Car was a competitor for the Fleetwood and not the DeVille.. The DeVille is FWD while the Town Car is RWD. The DeVille is unibody... The Town Car is body on frame...
Overall, to me, it would be a hard choice.. I choose the Fleetwood over the Town Car (obviously) - but the DeVille and Town Car - I just don't know.. If I want a better performer that has kick-ass looks, I'll take the DTS hands down. Same for the DHS and regular DeVille.. But for ultimate comfort, I'd probably go with a Town Car...
I had one of each for 24 hours in 2003, when I was buying.
For 0-60 MPH runs, and for 1/4 mile times and cornering, the Caddy is #1. For everything else, the Town Car is #1. (Which is why I bought the T.C.)
What's everything else? Comfort, interior luxury, overall seat-of-the-pants comfort, options, seats, carpets, door panels, overall "feel" ~ smooth ride, quietness, lack of wind noise, ability to have BOTH a cassette AND a C.D. autochanger, installed by the factory, and a hood that raises itself & a trunk lid that closes itself, among other features.
"wish Cadillac still made the Fleetwood Brougham. I'd be saving my pennies"
Me too....but everyday I read a new article about Cadillac, I realize that it has completely sold out to its original traditional customers......I still love their cars....but I sorta like Lincoln More all the time now.
I agree 100%. I own a 2010 Lincoln town car and could not be happier. The only minimal improvement would be a dohc 4.6 v-8 instead of the sohc. it provides adequate power especially considering the sheer size of the vehicle. Other than that the TC is superior in ride comfort, noise cancelation, quality, and luxury features(power trunk, cornering lights, hood, etc).
