| | opel/vauxhall omega-B owners: was there ever a 5-spd auto tranny available? just wondering if it was even an option for a 5-spd (O/D) auto trans option over in europe-land...i like the 4spd's ratios, but it would be nice to also have an over-drive gear for better mileage during extended steady-state highway cruising...we have alot of territory to cover over here in the States to get anywhere! |

In answer to the 5 speed questiona dn contary to the above....there was NEVER a 5 speed fitted to the Omega, there was one planned for the updated straight six common rail BMW sourced diesel but, this was never released.
Reality is that extra cogs are only realy required if you have a less than ideal torque curve (which is peaky) like you get with the modern over turboed diesel engines.... |

They do vauxhall parts and vauxhall spare parts, so you can save money by getting a second hand one.
being vauxhall i would not be surprised to find one, they release great vauxhall car parts, including my favorite, the ipod doc. |

It's the around town driving that is a killer. In pure around town, I may get as little as 16 mpg.

| | | Re: opel/vauxhall omega-B owners: was there ever a 5-spd auto tranny available? It should be about 3000rpm at 75-80mph on the auto 3.0V6....which is about the optimum on a multivalve engine....
Interestingly, not sure how good your dealers are but, there was a software update for the gearbox ECU around 2002 which can be progarmmed into pretty much all post 98 cars via TECH2 and TIS.......and it makes a BIG difference to the changes....much smoother and considerably better when booting it...
I personaly no longer have an auto as I prefer a car with a 'driver involvement pack' (Manual gearbox) so I can throw it round corners more.... |
