catera won't start when hot

Hello,
I have a 99 Catera, and if for example I go into a store and come back out it will not start. Lights and radio all work but when I turn the key nothing happens. When I open the hood and let it cool for 30 minutes or so it will start. Any help would be appreicated.

Re: catera won't start when hot

I had the exact same problem couldent figure it out forever, The problem is most likely the celenoid or however u spell it its in the ignition Your starter is fine and battery is good i will guess. Im almost 100% positive when i had mine checked that was the problem i know its in the ignition. It makes no sense why its doing what its doing now I know. When i look over my paper work of the repair i will let you know. I hope this helps -Pete

Re: catera won't start when hot

Thanks for responding Pete. I had heard that maybe the solenoid was the problem too. I don't know if the solenoid is bad or if it is located to close to something that causes it to get hot. Any idea how to check the solenoid? Let me know what ever you find out.
Thanks Pete
David

I don't know how to check it sorry I had mine serviced at a local shop not the dealer If you take it to a shop and ask to have it checked you may find your problem! best of luck
