i bought a 01 catera, i noticed i can push the middle of the steering wheel in about one inch, where the airbag is. does this mean it is missing. anyone out there check and see if yours is the same. i got one reply, but would like to verify before i go to the dealer. thanks, robert
ps i love this car so far. nicer than my 280c and 300e

Re: airbag missing??

Well, I got a response from the dealer saying that if the cover is there, it's there. Still, looks very weird to me too

Re: airbag missing??

I have seen more than one car that had an airbag deployed and someone superglued the cover back together.
I don't have any Cateras to double check on, some can push in slightly but if it is literally an inch then I'd say the bag could be gone.
A careful inspection of the airbag is warranted.
Does the airbag light flash when you turn the key on and then go out?
I would have a professional look at it.

Years ago a guy brought his Camaro in to check the airbag light, I discovered that both front bags had been deployed, the damage repaired and the covers reattached after the bags were cut out.
Needless to say this guy was a little upset.
