You read my mind. That's what I was thinking. You desperately need to sort out what is subjective and what is objective. You can't listen to too many Cats.

Re: Calling the A team, re;engine noise

Where are you from Frank? It's possible someone here may live close by.
I could be way off here, but it can't hurt. I used to hear a "hollow chain dragging" from my Catera when i took off in first, it went away after it shifted into 2nd. I could never really pin point it..that is until my tranny light came on. I had it looked at and turns out my tranny had issues. I had the car for 9 months and never drove any other. I ended up getting my tranny re-built and that noise went away. I also came to the conclusion that the tranny was bad the entire time i had the car. There have been posts about these cars not shifting right away during cold start ups. My car was notorious for that. Since the re-build mine shifts right away.

Smokey, thanks for your reply. I'm in Canton Ga. N of Atlanta, I'll keep searching, don't think it's a trans issue.

Re: Calling the A team, re;engine noise

Have the catalytic converters checked, I had a similar problem with by 2000 Sport, the left one had engine pieces in it from the engine I replaced. I had MIDAS put a generic converter on and the problem went away along with a few others, like slow initial acceleration and blowing the AIR hose on the left bank. Good luck.
