98 cadillac catera leveling very bad.

so i just got this catera couple of weeks ago and there was a leveling light blinking and the car was pretty hight from the back. so i took it to cadi dealers and after paying $96 they said the venting air in rear compressor is very bad. the cost to fix it about $750, so i decided to wait for a while before i do anything with it...couple of days ago i unplug something on upper side of the rear tires and the leveling light goes off and the car lowers to normal size.

problem now, the car from the front side/driver side is very low i mean i barley see the front tires.....

please help...what could be the problem.

I'd say it's the thing you unplugged.
Plug it back in.
That's just my guess though...

There's been a few level light issues. Just search the forums and if it doesn't answer your question, come back here. But it's most likely what the Cadillac dealer mechanic told you. They're not too often wrong. If you don't trust them, take the car to a shop that specializes in German imports.

Re: 98 cadillac catera leveling very bad.

From my understanding, the leveling system only works on the rear shocks(air shocks). The fronts are regular struts. Mainly it's used if you have extra weight in the back seat or trunk, it airs up and gets the back-end up in the air. After having my car awhile, i noticed my ass-end was up too high. After fiddling with stuff underneath, i came to some piece (leveling device)attatched to the rear end. I half-assed straightened it out and it dropped my car down to normal. I think it gets tweaked from riding.

Yes, exactly that. I just traced the air lines coming from the shocks.
