Any experience with ELM323 scan tool?

Remove this ad
HI group. Does the ELM323 scan tool interface have any functionality on our cars -- I'm looking for something that will give me data stream info. Has anyone tried it? It is supposed to work with the Opel Omega.
Thanks!
Jeff

Re: Any experience with ELM323 scan tool?

There's a guy in Germany selling a Tech 2 interface with free software.

You can find him on e-bay . co . uk. search for Tech II, under cards.

It sells for £35 UK pounds.

It reads and resets all codes (including air bag), software is not 100%, most of it is in English, some in Hungarian.

Lots of the guys in the UK have this kit and are reasonably pleased with it.

The Catera is only the USA version of the Opel.

If anyone is interested, have a look at our Omega (Catera) site in the UK, www.omegaowners.com.

Re: Any experience with ELM323 scan tool?

Thanks, I have seen the Tech 2 for sale. I might give it a try, it's pretty cheap. I'd really like a tool that lets me see data stream information, but there's no way i'm spending the money for a GM factory tool.
thanks again.

I do not know the exact model number but the one they use at auto zone is great! It reads codes, tells u what they mean and can clear them. I think it is around 150 dollars to buy or free to have checked and cleared at auto zone. I have also seen one at sears. You just need to get one that reads OB2 codes (96 and newer cars) My buddy has one for his volvo and it works on my catera too its great. I usually just go to autozone tho its quick and free
