Noise when heater on

Remove this ad
Hi,
I have a 2000 catera thats making a wisle noice whenever I turn the heater air inside. The faster the air blows the more noise it makes. The funny thing is it clogs up my ears, putting pressure on them. If I open the window just a little bit it all dissapears and everythings works great. Actually the car doesnt even have to be running whenever i'll get in the car and close the door the pressure just hits on the ears pretty hard. Not only me everyone in the car can feel it pretty well. If someone could help me on this one i'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Re: Noise when heater on

First thing to check is the main vents in the right hand side rear wing, if you open the boot (trunk) and look to the right there is a flap which can be opened (often has the first aid kit in it), in the base of here are two large vents to equalise cabin pressure.

You would be surprised how many people fill this area with blankets etc and then find the car mists up or the pressure is to high in the cabin....also make sure the vent on the back of the rear shelf is not covered to.

Re: Noise when heater on

Hi Mark; my fan blower motor is a bit more noisey than in the past. Is this a sign of impending doom for it?

Re: Noise when heater on

They raraely fail....in fact only normaly as a result of a blocked scuttle drain resulting in water getting in and buggering the bearings up....very easy to replace and a second hand one is a reliable source due to the high reliability of them.

Re: Noise when heater on

The scuttle area is at the rear of the engine bay just above the fire wall (bulk head) adn has a numebr of drains in it, the one on the left where teh pollen filter assembly is can get bunged up with leaves and rubbish and can result in water getting into the blower ducts and car
