Hook up to twilight sentinel?

Remove this ad
Im installing some extra lights on the interior and I would like to wire them to the twilight sentinel so they automatically come on when it gets dark out. I cant find any info at all on the light system. Could anyone help me out?

Re: Hook up to twilight sentinel?

buy some fuse taps. like these from radioshack:
http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search
they clip onto your fuses and allow you to then attach a wire directly to the fuse. hook the fuse tap onto either fuse #22 or #31.

Re: Hook up to twilight sentinel?

ok i dont know if im being stupid or not but when I installed the fuse tap, I put one on each blade of the fuse and connected the positive to one side and the negative to the other and nothing happened. The directions on the box said to put only one on but then where does the negative feed go?

Re: Hook up to twilight sentinel?

well when i actually stopped to think about it i figured out that the positive lead needs to go to the fuse and the negative to the battery, however ive never hooked somthing to the battery before and im not sure what to do.

Re: Hook up to twilight sentinel?

yes you are doing it wrong. put one fuse tap on the fuse. that is your positive. for the ground you need to hook it up to something on the car that is grounded. the negative battery terminal for example. on my car when i hooked up extra interior lights like you are doing, i ran a ground that connects to the rear cigarette lighter wire.

Re: Hook up to twilight sentinel?

I unfortuantly dont have a camera right right now but its very similer to what you did. I got the whole thing up and running and i like it, I had ripped out that whole ash compartment when i baught the car because it was broken and wouldnt stay shut, however I was still able to connect it to the lead with minimum wire showing. The light is white by default but if I ever feel like i want a change with a remote control It can change to within 5 differnt colors. i still havnt figured out where im going to put the control box so that its out of my way but inline with my remote, right now its just laying behind the pedal somewhere, it needs a more permant position.
