Before I have a breakdown - HELP - Trac/Speedo and whats this?

Remove this ad
Hi Guys

I am so sick of problems!!

Ok control arm replaced today, and of course on my way to the garage, the levelling light started flashing and there it stays!

HOWEVER, my problem is this;

Initial CEL reported EBTCM failure (2108 and 1700)

1. EBTCM refurbished and installed

No change, and another one carried out under warranty.

2. CEL now reports Vehicle Speed Sensor A malfunction (0500)

VSS replaced, still have ABS/TRAC and speedo out

3. 2nd refurbished EBTCM installed.

ABS light goes away, but TRACS are out and so is the Speedo.

SO IN SUMMARY....

VSS and EBTCM replaced, wiring from VSS to EBTCM checked out, no fault found.

What the hell can it be?????? I'm so exasperated and don't know where to look with this anymore. What is left that can be causing the speedometer outage and all related things bar the ABS.

ON ANOTHER NOTE.......

While looking under the hood, for suspicious activity, I found a wire severed, it comes from a plug located behind the dipstick, I took a pic with my phone, (so excuse the quality) but since I don't have a manual, can anyone clarify what this is please???????

See picture and thanks so much for any help offered, I'm very frustrated.

Mick

Re: Before I have a breakdown - HELP - Trac/Speedo and whats this?

I should add that, due to my own stupidity, and more to the point, lack of ability to know what speed I'm doing, I picked a ticket up yesterday, so believe me when I say, I am DESPERATE for advice!!

If anyone can tell me what that plug is in the picture, the wire leading to my hand is the severed one, it would be much appreciated too.

Re: Before I have a breakdown - HELP - Trac/Speedo and whats this?

A question, was the ABS/TC module your original one or a replacement part..., was the ECU part new or re-built?

In the UK we have to configure them for engine type/year etc with tech 2 to get them to function....

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

Both my original and a replacement were rebuilt, or reconfigured, no change.
