    97 catera need info

I have a 97 catera that has been a nightmare. Trans replaced 6 mo. ago, coolant leak behind engine 2 mo. ago, air compressor went this past fri. and now the car is sitting on the side of the road. It started idling rough this morning, progressed to rough acceleration. Then finally died. Called Nolan Cadillac yet again. ( I think we pay their electric bills) Any help would be appreciated.

If its a rough idle/stalling issue it could be the IAC. Someone (speedingpenguine) did a GREAT writeup on it... Do a search!

Welcome aboard..... Thanks for signing up SOrry to hear about your catera problems

You say rough excelleration... does that mean hesitant or just stuttering or maybe no power?

IM thinking dirty/clogged/not working fuel injectors or fuel filter on this. Something tells me thats what it is... just a hunch.

Well the thing is home and I have graduated to the whole car shaking and the engine light is now on. It was sputtering on excelleration. but now the car sputters and spits the whole time. I appreciate the help. I am guessing I will have to take it to Claude Nolan. After reading other posts, I figure mine is the exception, rather than the rule, since mine is in service, more than on the road!

Claude Nolan Cadillac, in Jacksonville Florida?!

Thats not too far from here, i also live in Jacksonville.

It could be some electronic malfunction, as in the way of the Module At Plug system the Catera has.

Woah, I live there too... near Alamicani Elementary school *im not giving exact directions here*. I take atlantic every day to work.

    What colour is your car?

Plus, when "our" Catera needed to be fixed because of a bad camshaft sensor, it was taken to Nimnicht. You could try there if you wanted, they gave us a free tow, courtesy car and service all because we found out a warranty was left on the car.
