| | Daytime Running Lights Can anybody tell me how to disable the daytime running lights on a 1998 Catera? I pulled the fuse from underneath the steering column but when I did that, it left me with the use of only one high beam. Any help out there? |

| | | Re: Daytime Running Lights I've looked into it as well, on my 01 it can supposedly be disabled with a GM Tech 2 scan tool. I'm going to try this in Jan some time, I'll let you guys know what other things can be changed with the scan tool. |

| | | Re: Daytime Running Lights Thanks. I'm going to the dealership where I do business and talk to the mechanics soon. The, "regular," guys are back on duty now. They had been on strike and there were some replacements working who weren't very informed about Cateras. If I hear something first, I'll post. |

| | | Re: Daytime Running Lights I got the chance to use the Tech2 As I suspected there aren't many things you can change but it has some very interesting diagnostic features. I was able to disable the DRL Country code must be active and DRL deactivated as I highlighted below. |

| | | Re: Daytime Running Lights My Opel, thanks so much for your response. I'll try that next. Does it disable the DRL's for good or just once? I've read on some of the other Cadillac forums (or some similar place) that it's only good for 1 time around. Resilient, if your question was/is for me, there are a lot of reasons like, DRL's are just an unneccessary drain on the battery & bulb life, I hate the way they look, if you can't see me coming in my Catera in the daytime, you've got BIG problems and have no business on the road. Just my personal feelings. Urabbit, good one but not close; I'm a low profile kinda guy. |

| | | Re: Daytime Running Lights It turns them off for good until you change it with the Tech2 I think that maybe the other guys didn't switch the country code therefore deactivating the DRL did nothing. My Catera sport has HID's and I fitted HID's into the fog lights, the incandescent DRLs cheapens the image. Also the DRLs use the same H7 bulb as the High beams at a lower voltage, that won’t be good on the ballasts when I replace the H7s with D2S HIDs. |

Just my personal feelings. | I was just curous as in Canada the "Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 required DRL on all new cars made after January 1, 1990."... and I read that in the US is came into effect shorthly after... always believed these were 'required'... | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
