Re: Catera V new mods

Better than a C6!? What's under the hood, how much did it cost to do, and can I do it to a 97? I would kill my first born son to have my Cat be that bad ass!!!!!

Re: Catera V new mods

Basicaly the same engine performance as today's ZO-6 in a car that is 700 lbs heavier. It would be cheaper to buy a GTO and add a supercharger or buy a used cts v. It would be very cost and time prohibitive to duplicate this car. If you think a GTO can not be cool check out this one built by Wheel 2 Wheel in Troy MI. 650 supercharged ponies-389 CI.

Re: Catera V new mods

I like Aussie cars. I never knew that they made their own. Never even gave it a thought until I saw "Mad Max" in 1979. At first I thought they were customized Americam Iron but I couldn't identify them. Maybe customized Ford Torinos and Mustangs. Later I learned about Holden and Ford of Australia. By 1979 American cars were strangled by emission controls and here were these Aussie cars with big honkin' V8s and open pipes. Especially Max's (Ford Falcon Coupe XB GT) Interceptor. I really loved watching that car.

Now don't get me started about those great Japanese Kawasakis.

GM should announce a Pontiac G8 at the Chicago Auto Show based on the Holden HSV according to magazine rumors.

Re: Catera V new mods

I know I won't be able to afford one when it debuts but it is good news. I hope they don't go nuts and change too much as far as styling goes. Pontiac tends to get heavy handed with styling gimicks. A subtlely Americanized Commodore V8 could be my Catera replacement in a few years.

This isn't the HSV. It's a Commodore VE Calais but the basic body style is there.

Very clean. Slippery. Looks better than the origami styling Cadillac has embraced lately.

But it's the whole concept of a CATERA that's that fast is what's appealing.

Re: Catera V new mods

Nice mods, although, I am still waiting on your decision to sell it to me. PLEEEEASE!!! (Kidding, no not really, when you want to part with it, send word!) I contacted Lingenfelter, and they will not do the work on mine for any price? I guess. I was stunned I asked them how much, not if it would be expensive. The guy I talked to suggested that I purchase a CTS, and then they could do something for me. If I wanted the batmobile, I would have bought one! Some one will do the swap for me sooner or later! (Fingers crossed!)

Re: Catera V new mods

One more note, I went to Pontiac dealer with checkbook in hand to buy the GTO before I could not find a new one. Needless to say, this is not even close to the same car. While I did like the 2 door concept, ok here goes the diss... The GTO is still a cheap feeling Pontiac with a lot of power. I want to go fast, and in a short time, but I bought a Cadillac for a reason, and worked through the bugs on the Cat because it is one of the most refined autos I have ever owned. (And before the GTO guys start to slam me, I have a pretty well outfitted garage. 2 MB's, a BMW, a C6, and V8 Ford Ranger 4x4)
