Re: Catera V new mods

Don't know, it was in the car when I purchased it from a friend. It is a C5R -7 liter installed by John Lingenfelter.

Re: Catera V new mods

C5R 7.0 liter? That's a 427 if I'm not mistaken.... you SURE that's what engine it is? Looks like a normal LS2 or LS6 to me, but, I could be wrong...

Re: Catera V new mods

Yes, I am sure. It is the block used in the Corvette LeMans race cars with LS6 intake and ported heads. Like the 2006 ZO-6 but the block is stronger.

Re: Catera V new mods

Figuring the C5R engine ALONE costs 10-15k out of the crate, probably quite expensive- for the owner who had the car before Catera V.

Lingenfelter drove the car himself too If I remember correctly. RIP John

Re: Catera V new mods

Yes, unfortunately this was one of the last cars John completed before his untimely death. I had the good fortune of knowing him and he was a real nice man, easy going and friendly. The picture is of John and his wife going for a ride after the car was completed.

Re: Catera V new mods

Wow, that is unbelievable. What kind of transmission does it have?

I remember when the Catera first came out, there was a lengthy debate as to whether Caddy would come out with a V8 version of the Catera, and whether there was room under the hood.

One advantage of the OHV setup is that it is more compact than OHC engines.

Barry
