| EBTCM disabled - Rev limit?

I have a reconditioned EBTCM ready to go in to the car, but my mechanic has the flu, of course that figures because I paid extra to have the feckin thing overnighted!! Murphy's law is consistent with my car!!
Anyway, I have a question..I'm driving with all these things disabled, braking is not so much fun I might add, and I have noticed something new. If I accelerate hard, the revs seems to hold at just over 5k, and I have to ease off, let it shift and then it goes on. I recall the SHO I had doing something similar around 4k if you were in neutral/park. Could it be that the car in some kind of mode because so many systems are down due to the demise of the EBTCM?
ON a different note, someone kindly e-mailed me after they had sent me some wiring notes, talking about a cd. My work mail screwed up and I lost the mail, its not that I'm desperate for a cd, more that I do not want to appear ungrateful to them, if its YOU, I did and do, appreciate the kind offer and assistance you gave.
