Re: Sport mode and rev limiter what does your catera do?

It has a rev limit at 7000rpm which causes an ignition retard and fuel injection cut off.....easier to see on the manual (stick shift) verisons over here.

Remember that this engine was designed to be reved with slipper pistons, strong rods and a main bearing girdle!

I'd have to agree with everyone.....my Catera regularly hits 6,800-ish on the tach, and I've had no problems because of it so far. The Catera has an electronic transmission, so unless you're manually shifting her, she won't ever let the engine or trans get to a damage level. And yes, the Cateras in the US are governed to 125mph........ :-)

What a bugger

No speed limiters in europe (from my experience of US roads, the quality is somewhat variable so this may be a good thing!) on the cars and hence 150mph+ can be achieved.....they are incredibly smooth and quiet at 100mph+

Interestingly, there are a number of banger rally events in europe where one of the requirements is that the car costs no more than 100 quid (190 dollars).

One of our forum members bought a 1995 2.016V (136Bhp) Omega base model (we have many more engine varients) and transformed it into the 'BatOmegaBile' for the event. It completed its 1600 mile balls out run to Naples in Italy from Scotland (North UK) and was then given to some guys to bring back.....they took it via the Nurbergring and did a 10 minute lap in it!
