Trac/ABS/CEL/Speedo and P/Steering

Remove this ad
Hi,

My desire to align the headlights has been put on hold since disaster struck!!

Yesterday, my ABS and Trac lights on the instrument panel flashed on and off, I ignored since it went away as quick as it happened.

Today, a different story.

I have both of those lights, ABS and Trac plus check engine light and the speedometer is not working, all other dash lights and rev counter etc are ok. My power steering doesn't seem to be functioning either.

As I limped home, not sure what was going on, I went over a bump and the ABS/TRac lights went off momentarily and the speedo started working for a second.

A remote starter was fitted friday, could this be a loose connection?????

The CEL showed codes of 1700 and 2189 (though I'm not sure about tha latter, I need to go and plug the scanner in again)

Anyone have an idea where I should start???

Thanks

Mick

It's your EBCM module. It's very expensive to replace and there's lots of posts on it here.

Re: Trac/ABS/CEL/Speedo and P/Steering

Ok before I plunge in to despair....

And assuming its the module,

Do any of the following make investigation of the connections, and if so, where, worthwhie?

A. It appeared to come back with a jolt on the road, is this the norm or does it sound like something is loose?

B. It had a remote starter fittedfriday.

C. It had new pads and rotors shaved on the rear 10 days ago

HELP!!!! :-(

Re: Trac/ABS/CEL/Speedo and P/Steering

Update....

I went and looked around where I assume the module to be, just based on a quick glance at this forum, wiggled a wire or two, made sure everything seemed tight and then started the car.

The ABS/Trac and CEL cleared themselves.

Conincidence or following the starter and presumably a lot of wiring going on, possibly a loose connection?

Opinions would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Mick

Re: Trac/ABS/CEL/Speedo and P/St ***EBCTM****

My lights (ABS/Trac) and speedo have come on and off all morning, currently off, does this sound like comptuer module failure, or, a loose connection following the remote starter and dismantled dash for fitment??

Help !!!

Mick

Re: Trac/ABS/CEL/Speedo and P/Steering

That's exactly what mine was doing two weeks ago, and it was the ebcm module. Extended warranty cost = $1400 plus, and it would have been more if my cost. Good luck!
