temp gauge problems

has any1 had there temp gauge stop working? after changing my heater control valve for the 4th time in 3yrs it stoped working/ or works a little but most of the time not at all.

the single wire that goes on the sender proably came off during the process. its right below the upper intake on the coolant bridge

i thought so too but it was connected, after that i replaced the sensor still no go
