catera rearview mirror

Remove this ad
ok i just got a 1998 catera not to long ago, so im still trying to figure everything out. i've read the owners manual 2 or 3 times front to back to find the answer to this question, but i can't find anything. am i supposed to be moving the rearview mirror with my hands? it sounds like it is breaking when i do. i know there is a motor in it that moves it when i select one of my memory presets, but is there a button that im supposed to be using to adjust the mirror or am i supposed to be doing it this way? thanks

Re: catera rearview mirror

Well, I couldn't find the buttons, too. I think they just don't exist And it's easy to reach it, so I use my hands to move it. BTW it doesn't sound like it is breaking - moves pretty smooth. After you adjusted it, seat and mirrors - just hold M button and then the memory bank button (1,2,3). It will remember the position of you mirror. If you have two different settings in the memory and you switch bitween them - you'll see your mirror adjusting - I beleive it moves in both axles.

Re: catera rearview mirror

I have a 98 also - my rearview is also very jerky and sounds kind of bad when I move it. I don't know if its just like that or if its gotten dirty and gummed up.

Re: catera rearview mirror

I couldn't find any reference in the shop manuals about adjusting the rearview mirror manually. Looked at the schematics but they don't shine any light on why the mechanism might make a grinding noise. I believe my inside rearview mirror was noisy when I first got the Cat', but it cleared up soon after and is working smoothly.
