I have a 2001 Catera and I had the same problem. The dealer replaced a positioning sensor and it cured the problem. I'll dig up the paperwork and find out the exact part name.

i own a 2000 catera and i am currently having an issue that the mech. or myself have been able to find.....the issue is that from time to time the Sport light on dash...or overdrive it's a little circled (s) starts to flash....the car is paralized.....you can't accelarate....! if anyone is familar with this PLEASE help a friend in need.... Hi all, from the sun city, El Paso, TX. My wife and I just purchased a Catera in Dec. We love it. I had to make my first repair, $125 and a new heater control valve. Just gotta figure out how to fill the radiator and get rid of the low coolant dummy light. Hope to make some good friends here, and I won't rub in the temps here for everyone up north.

I have a 99. I got into some trouble and my parents rescued me by giving it to me. I love it, 76,000 miles. the good, Stereo is awesome, in great shape body and interior. Drive is fun. Problems coolant sensor lite is always on and don't know how to fix????? Help??? The sunroof tends to open on it's own???? Help??? I imagine I need a new control for the roof??? Anyone else have any ideas.

Hey Peety, I got you message but the admin won't let me respojd until I have 30 post. Well here is #2. Anyway how do you re program the sunroof. I figured as much on the temp sensor, but when I sit at lights the temp goes up, that I thought was strange, but no leaks, and it is a new water pump. Check Engine light just came on today but not sure why? nothing seems any different. I believe this is an issue with all, from what I read.

Thanks for your help though. Now if I can get my money together I want to do some things to the car.

to program the sun roof you push the sunroof switch in (it'll click when you do) for 10 secons and then your sun roof will work

the temp gauge will rise as you sit at a light. engin gets hottest during stop and go traffic.

only thing I can suggest with check engine light is go to auto zone that can scan it for you.

another suggestion. since this thread is getting bigger and bigger. if you have spacific questions about your car just make a new tread if you search turns up nothing. that way everyone see's the question. I normally don't even go into this thread.
